I run all the lights I want and the heater blower, water and toilet pumps are only on for short bursts after all and I certainly haven't needed to drive for miles just to charge the battery. What metal are battery terminals?
Any ideas on how long it would take to charge a 110Ah leisure battery (from say half charged) via the 12* socket? As a working example If we were on a site that didn't have mains hookup how long would I need to have the car running (obviously while attached to the 12* socket) to 're-chare' the battery each day.

how to look after a zire 71's battery
Could I have done any damage to it's potential battery life this way? I would say unlikely since the device can be charing and running at the same time. Using it while plugged in probably didn't even affect the charging of the battery. Of course, I didn't design it, so I can't say for sure... - Logan.

Actually... I have used sears automatic chargers for 35 years on boats, cars, etc....The only thing I have to add is be VERY careful making the connections... Check for gas fumes..... run the blower...Make sure the caps are on the battery and no acid is on the battery... connect the charger to the battery.

Charing Batteries with Long Wire?
It's about 2/3rds of the way charged now, and unlike NiCads, the battery gets a little bit warm while it is charging -- about the same as a NiCad would be at 7 or 8 amps or so. I'll take note of the peak voltage which tells us something about the internal resistance while charing. Well, it peaked at 9.14 volts,
